Hope Garden and Hope Kitchen at Stenton Family Manor

The Hope Garden at Stenton Family Manor was established in 2009 to improve the nutritional value of meals for shelter residents by growing fresh produce for the kitchen, as well as to provide a safe space where young residents take part in structured activities related to gardening and nutrition. Programming has expanded to provide both adult and youth residents with the skills, values, and knowledge to shop for, prepare, and enjoy fresh healthy meals together, particularly as they transition from the manor to living independently through our culinary educational experience, Hope Kitchen. The partnership between WWCP and Stenton was the first of its kind in Philadelphia, and The Hope Garden the first production and education garden for families experiencing homelessness.
