A Wednesday Workshop: Getting Creative With Vacant Lots in Philadelphia

Wednesday, November 30, 2016 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Vacant lots may be perceived as empty, but they are FULL of potential. How can we tap into this potential, in a way that regenerates the health of the urban landscape and restores vitality to the surrounding community? One recent idea is to transform vacant lots into native plant nurseries. This innovative project would provide city residents and the urban parks system with a quality, local source for native plants, while adding value to the community in a number of ways.

In this workshop, Scott Quitel, founder of the LandHealth Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring connections between people and nature in the city, will describe the initiative and lead a discussion about its implications for the city.
