The OUTSIDERS: A Presentation sponsored by Philadelphia Advocates for the Deer

Tuesday, November 27, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Did you know? For more than 20 years, Fairmount Park officials have confronted the Philadelphia white tailed deer population with forcible control. They shoot deer winter after winter in all areas of the Park, including the Wissahickon Valley. Is this necessary? It is effective? Most importantly, what is the right thing to do?

Environmental Attorney and Educator Lee Hall, JD LLM, will present a 40-minute slideshow, followed by discussion, about deer control, deer as members of a biological community and the concept of environmental ethics.

Findings from all over the eastern half of the United States show some surprising facts about natural predators and their power. It takes courage to understand the role of natural predation in and around an urban park, but exploring the reality should be on every Philadelphia resident's to do list.

Meet up at the beautiful new Nexus Mt. Airy co-working space at 520 Carpenter Lane. Parking is available on the street, and as you enter you will be directed to the location of the presentation.

Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome, and pre-registration is not required. PLEASE DROP IN!!
