Come help build a community garden for the Mount Airy Village Fair! We'll be making huge flowers, butterflies, bugs and other things that live in a garden. What we make will be as diverse as we are. Our garden will celebrate our community and our home: the natural world. Children, teens and adults are all invited! You can come to both sessions, or just one.
BUILDING THE GARDEN, Saturday, Aug. 19, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Weavers Way Mercantile, 542 Carpenter Lane
We'll be making our garden out of corrugated cardboard, pieces of wood and other materials. People who come can work as individuals or in groups, using their own ideas or other peoples' ideas. Come help create the garden of your dreams!
PAINTING THE GARDEN, Thursday, Aug. 24, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
at Mindy's studio, 5225 Greene St.
Enjoy the pleasure of mixing color and painting! You can paint whatever you built at the first session, or something someone else made. We will make our garden a riot of color!
Both workshops will be led by Weavers Way Working Member and artist Mindy Flexer. Mindy is a professional artist and certified art teacher who is proud to be a Philadelphia artist. She is a representational painter who has exhibited her work at venues including Woodmere Art Museum and Artists’ House Gallery in Philadelphia, as well as at national plein air festivals in Pennsylvania and Maryland. She has taught art in both private and public schools, and now paints and teaches at her studio, the home of Mindy Flexer Art School, where she loves sharing her passion with people of all ages.
