Weavers Way Co-op is hiring a lead cashier for our new store in Ambler, set to open in early October. As lead cashier, you are not only integral to the customer experience, but you serve as a role model for your colleagues in how to best handle customer situations. The ability to remain even keeled, work well under pressure (it can get pretty busy!), maintain accuracy, and deliver top-notch customer service is essential.
As lead cashier, you are responsible for the following:
- Opening and closing duties — all shifts will either be opening (7 a.m.-3 p.m.) or closing (2 p.m.-10 p.m.)
- Counting and reconciling drawers at the beginning and end of the day
- Overseeing front-end staff during shifts
- Dealing with customer questions/concerns/issues
- Need to be knowledgeable/learn about membership at Weavers Way Co-op
Previous experience in a grocery store environment is strongly preferred. Previous experience at a co-op is a major bonus.
Start pay is $13/hour.
Other requirements include: standing for extended periods of time, twisting/bending and computer/POS knowledge.
We are looking for someone who has a lot of flexibility to cover hours as needed. If you have a lot of constraints on your time, this position may not be the best fit.
We offer an excellent benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick time, retirement planning and an employee discount.
Founded in 1973, Weavers Way is a community-owned natural grocer with stores in Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill. In addition to our stores, we run a market farm in the Awbury Arboretum, a CSA farm partnership with Saul High School, our own community newspaper, and a non-profit that emphasizes food and nutrition education. We operate based on a triple bottom line philosophy that considers our community and environment in all of our decisions.
We read and appreciate all cover letters. Feel free to stop in our stores in Mt. Airy or Chestnut Hill to complete an application. You can also find a copy of our application at www.weaversway.coop/employment. You can also apply by sending an email and attaching your resume. Applicants who do not submit an application and/or a resume will not be considered.
